Deloitte elevates Carthage to core accounting partner
Deloitte, the world’s largest certified public accounting firm, recently designated Carthage a core partner school.
“This is an incredible resource for our students,” says Professor Julie Dawson, chair of the Accounting Department.
The designation paves the way for Deloitte to hold both educational and recruiting events on campus, as well as for students to interact with audit and assurance staff at the firm’s Milwaukee office. The consistent excellence of Carthage’s accounting graduates opened this promising new door.
“Over the last few years, we’ve had a significant number of alumni intern and start their career at Deloitte, and they have done a phenomenal job representing our program,” says Prof. Dawson. “The firm is realizing we have a high-quality program developing professionals who will be a great fit.”
In fall 2024, Carthage students competed for the first time in Deloitte’s regional FanTAXtic competition. Each team analyzes a realistic case study and presents its innovative solution to the firm’s tax representatives.
Through the School of Business and Economics, the College offers either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in accounting. At many other schools, students have to take summer courses or stay for an extra year to earn the 150 credits needed to take the CPA exam, but you can meet that requirement in four years at Carthage.
